Where did you learn how grown men act when there were no women around? For me it was as a young teenager riding Yamaha dirt bikes all over the mountains of the Sylamore National Forrest of Stone, Baxter and Izard County Arkansas. People like Tip Wiseman, Dean Hudson, and Reed Perryman were great examples of how to be an adult man. Myself, Randy Smith, Michael Ballard and others were the students.
This has been on my mind since the November men's breakfast at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Calico Rock where I had a long conversation with David Boltz about the subject of the lack of opportunity for young men to learn by example of how to become a responsible adult man. We thought the men's breakfast would be a great place for the propinquity of men being men could be transferred to the younger men folk. Question, of course, is how to get the men to come and bring their son's and grand son's.
As a follow up to this post... my friend Dave Boltz quit going to the breakfast several months ago after moving to Mtn Home. The church decided to stop having the monthly men's breakfast due to low attendance and those that cooked being tired. Oh well! Steve - January 26, 2019
